Harborlites Win Regional Competition and Set a New SAI Record! 729 Points!

PHOENIX, AZ - On Saturday, May 6, 2006, Harborlites raised the bar once more by winning the Region 21 Chorus Competition of Sweet Adelines International with the highest score ever earned at a regional competition. Out of a possible 800 points, the chorus scored a jaw-dropping 729 points! The previous record of 728 points was held by Toronto's North Metro Chorus who broke all prior records in 2001.

Harborlites performed two songs for the contest, the ballad "When Day is Done" and the over-the-top uptune, "The Joint Is Jumpin'." Both songs are featured on the chorus' new CD, "Something's Coming."

Former Harborlites member Marsha Ross was in the audience and described the performance like this: "Every person on stage reached out to us in the audience and pulled us into them...when they started their uptune, 'The Joint is Jumpin,' we in the audience were hit by this wall of sound as soon as they opened their mouths! I couldn't catch my breath! My heart was pounding! We were all on the edge of our seats and felt like they really were inviting us to come in and play with them! People all around me were crying, and jumping up and down and cheering. It was like we knew that we had just experienced a moment that would be forever remembered in the annals of Sweet Adelines...and we were right!!"
